India VS England 1st Test Match: Preview (First look)

It started back in 2011 when India suffered 4-0 loss in the swinging and seaming conditions.  The result was same when England visited India in 2012. England team clinched the series 2-1 at last despite losing the first match.

India was playing with good side but it overwhelmed by tremendous batting performance from England captain, Alistair Cook. He got support from Jonathan trot with the bat and James Andersen with the ball.

Major players of Indian team failed to stand up against reverse swing bowling from Anderson and lost in Kolkata and Mumbai. However, Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni tried hard to avoid a humiliating defeat.

India visited England again in 2014 for the test series. There were new faces in the both team. India managed to draw at Nottingham and win the match at Lord’s.

But it went downhill when they lost next three matches consecutively. Virat Kohli was struggling with the line outside the off-stump against English pacers. But Rahane scored a great tonne at Lord’s. Would India break the shackles of loosing against England at home this time? You’ll find out very soon in the upcoming test.

Less than 24 hours remaining before the first test of India VS England, injuries are a matter of concern on the both sides. Who is going to fill in for the opening spot as both Shikhar Dhawan and Lokesh Rahul are out of action from the series due to injury.

However, it could be a perfect opportunity for Gautham Gambhir to show his skill once again. India’s middle order looks firm with Chesteshwar Pujara at 3, captain Virat Kohli at 4 and Ajinkya Rahane at number 5.

Rohit Sharma performed very well at 6 position against New Zealand but he got sidelined and so Hardik Pandya and Karun Nair have been selected to replace his position but it seems that Hardik Pandya is going to fill in the last place in the batting number. Wriddhiman Saha will stand behind as wicketkeeper as usual.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are ready to dominate opponent along with Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav in the pace department. Amit Mishra will be out of team despite the man of the match performance in one-day international against New Zealand.

James Andersen will be out of the first match. England may be at discomfort without his reverse swing like the last series. There will be lot of expectation on Alistair Cook as he has the most experience in the English side. There is another batsman, Joe Root who is considered one of best batsmen in the modern times. He is going to be tested in the spinning condition as well.
