Asus, a Taiwanese multinational computer and phone hardware and electronics company, has launched two new budget smartphones in India in the form of Asus ZenFone Max M1 and ZenFone Lite L1. As far as the hardware specifications are concerned, both the new ZenFone models offer similar hardware with minor differences.

Asus Zenfone Max M1 & Lite L1 Specification

The premium variant of the two, the Asus ZenFone Max M1 (ZB556KL) runs on Android Oreo based on ZenUI 5.0. The dual-SIM device features a 5.45-inch (720×1440 pixels) HD+ IPS display with 18:9 aspect ratio, 400nits brightness, 800:1 contrast ratio, 65 percent NTSC colour gamut, and 82 percent screen-to-body ratio. It is powered by the Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor paired with 3GB RAM. Internal storage is at 32GB, and microSD card expansion is supported up to 256GB.

The ZenFone Lite L1 features similar specifications, however, there is no fingerprint scanner at the back. Having said that the device supports Face Unlock. The rear camera is same while there is a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture along with LED flash. The device comes with 2GB of RAM along with 16GB internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB.


Both feature the same 13MP rear sensor, but feature different front lenses.  While Max M1 comes with an 8MP lens, Lite L1 features a 5MP lens. The rear sensor is enabled by Pixel Master. Users will be able to experience Portrait mode, Live filters, as well as AI Beauty modes.


The Zenfone Max M1 also has Face Unlock but adds a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Its battery capacity is larger at 4,000mAh and it supports reverse charging. It runs Android Oreo and has a triple card slot. Whereas if you look at the battery of L1 lite, it’s giving a bit less than the M1 variant, say 3000mAh.


The Zenfone Max M1 is also covered in polycarbonate but it has a metallic finish and a 2.5D glass in front. It has the same screen and resolution as the Zenfone Lite L1.


The Asus ZenFone Max M1 costs Rs 8,999 and will be available at an introductory price of Rs 7,499. On the other hand, the Asus ZenFone Lite L1 is priced at Rs 6,999 and will be available at an introductory price.
